Baton Rouge Teen Was Blocked on TikTok by the Woman She Was Dating, So She Allegedly Did the Unthinkable
For Gen Z, social media isn’t a separate reality; it’s often the heartbeat of their social existence. Shady posts, a “block” or an unread DM typically aren’t tech glitches, it could be received as a profound social dismissal. Over in Louisiana, after an 18-year-old woman allegedly blocked the 19-year-old she had been dating on TikTok, the latter is accused of turning her hurt feelings into felony charges.
Paulasia Banks told investigators she and Kassidy Jackson had been dating for several months, The Independent reported. Banks, 19, wanted to know why she hadn’t heard from Jackson between noon and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, especially after she discovered Jackson had blocked her on TikTok.
Demanding answers, Banks and two men allegedly forced their way into Jackson’s home on Columbus Dunn Drive in Baton Rouge around 2:00 p.m. that same day, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Advocate. During the confrontation, a fight reportedly broke out in the kitchen between Banks and Jackson’s other girlfriend, whose name was not released.
The unidentified girlfriend, who told police that Banks and Jackson were not dating, managed to get away to check on a child in another part of the home. That’s when the afternoon turned tragic.
The other girlfriend said a gunshot rang out. When she returned to the kitchen, she recalled seeing Jackson on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say that’s when Banks, who allegedly didn’t attempt to help Jackson, fled the scene with the two men.
Jackson died after she was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, according to the arrest warrant.
Banks turned herself in to the Baton Rouge Police with her attorney. Now, she faces a first-degree murder charge. The defendant also allegedly told police that she met up with a man in the neighborhood to borrow his gun to “check on” Jackson, The Advocate reported.
Banks is being held without any bond as police continue to investigate, hoping to identify the two men who are accused of accompanying Banks.
